PRODUCTS DIVISION
Rules and Regulations
- Participation is open to all ages.
- Each exhibit must be an entry of the farm where it was produced.
- No person may enter more than one exhibit of the same product.
- All products must be produced during the year of entry.
- All vegetables and fruits must qualify to Grade U.S. #1 or better.
- All exhibits must be in the exact quantity as specified by this catalogue.
- All exhibitors must pre-register their exhibit(s) between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM on the Monday and Tuesday of the fair at the fair office on the Amite fairgrounds.
- All products must be in place and ready for judging by 9:30 AM on the Wednesday of the fair.
- All products and ribbons may be picked up between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM on the SUNDAY following the fair.
- Premiums will be awarded in all exhibits as follows: First Place (Blue Ribbon) $2, Second Place (Red Ribbon) $1

POULTRY AND RABBIT DIVISION
Rules and regulations:
- Participation is open to all ages
- All entries must be the property of exhibitors; otherwise all premiums will be forfeited.
- No person may enter more than one exhibit of the same variety.
- Those exhibiting poultry and/or rabbits will do so at their own risk. All animals will be given care and attention.Precautions will be taken to return the animals in good shape to owners.
- Any animals showing symptoms of disease will be excluded from the exhibit removed from the grounds and returned to the owners.
- Poultry may be entered as single cock, hen, cockerel, pullet, old trio, and young trio.
- Poultry competing in single cannot compete in trio.
- All entries must preregister by 5 PM Tuesday at the Poultry and Rabbit Building on the fairgrounds in Amite. Premiums will not be awarded to late entries.
- Exhibits must be brought to the Fair’s Poultry and Rabbit Building from 9 AM to 5 PM, Tuesday and until 9:30 AM Wednesday. All exhibits must be in place and ready for judging by 9:30 AM Wednesday.
- No exhibit can be moved before 1 PM Sunday, and you must park by the arena area and walk in to claim your entries.
- Any other matter not covered by specific rules, is the decision of the poultry and rabbit committee.
- Bring proper containers for water and feed. Bowls will NOT be allowed as the animals spill them over and then have nothing to eat or drink for that day. Additionally, you must bring enough feed for your animal for the entire week. We will refill the waterers and feeders, but will NOT supply the feed.
- Owner may take ribbon off the cage.
Exhibits will be judged by comparison methods.The American Standard of perfection will be the guide of the judges in awarding premiums; the judges will award no premiums to any unworthy specimen.The following definitions will apply to all exhibits in poultry and rabbit divisions.
Cock – a male bird twelve (12) months or older
Hen – a female bird twelve (12) months or older
Cockerel – a male bird less than twelve (12) months old
Pullet – a female bird less than twelve (12) months old
Young Trio – a cockerel and two pullets, same variety
Old Trio – a cock and two hens, same variety
Rabbit – any breed.
Poultry premiums will be awarded in all exhibits as follows:
Single – 1st - $3.00 – 2nd - $2.00 – 3rd - $1.00

- All animals must meet the requirements of the Louisiana Livestock Sanitary Board.
- Management reserves the right to refuse any objectionable exhibit.
- Registration for dairy will begin at 8:30 AM on Saturday and will be judged at 9 AM. Beef registration will begin at 9:30 AM and be judged at 10 AM Market lambs and Goats will show immediately after the beef show at approximately 1 PM.

EXHIBITS
Rules and Regulations:
- Only products since the Tangipahoa Parish Fair 2013 may be exhibited. Only one per lot division. NOT TO EXCEED 20 ITEMS!
- All exhibits must be prepared by the person who exhibits them. This includes canned items.
- Canned products must be exhibited in standard pint or quart sized jars. The exhibitor must have canned the product.
- Entries will be accepted ONLY on Tuesday from 8 AM until 5 PM
- No entry will be entitled to take both First and Second premiums. No premium will be awarded if the entry is considered to be unworthy.
- To prevent food waste exhibitors may exhibit a one-fourth (1/4) cake or pie; 3 cookies, 3 muffins, etc. You must exhibit all baked goods on paper plates enclosed in a zipped plastic bag, with entry tag stapled on outside of bag.
- A Sweepstakes Ribbon will be awarded the individual with the highest and most placings in the Junior and Senior Divisions.
- Specify which age category you belong in with a “B” for ages 9 - 13 and a “C” for ages 14 – 19. The appropriate letter should be placed by the lot number on the exhibitor’s tag.
- Exhibits must be picked up in this division on Sunday between 1 PM and 3 PM. Claim tickets must be shown to pick up exhibits. YOU MUST PARK BY THE ARENA AND WALK IN TO CLAIM ENTRIES.
- No premium will be paid for exhibits not picked up.

Rules and Regulations
- All flowers and plants entered as specimens must have been grown for at least 60 days by the exhibitor. No specimen by commercial nurserymen will be entered for competition.
- No individual may enter more than one exhibit under any lot or entry number.
- In cut flower exhibits, more or fewer flowers than called for will disqualify the exhibit.
- Floral arrangements must be made by the exhibitor at home, although material for arrangements need not be grown by the exhibitor. No premiums will be paid for exhibits not listed in this catalog.
- Entries of all flowers must be received by 6:00PM on Tuesday of the fair. Cut flowers and arrangements for which entries were made on Tuesday may be brought in Wednesday morning between 8-9 AM.
- Registration tags for plants may be made at the Flower Building by the exhibition staff where the exhibitor’s number will be added and the tag recorded in the judge’s book.
- Exhibitors are responsible for entering plants/flowers in the correct category. If any plant/flower is entered in the wrong category, it will not be judged in that category. In some cases, incorrect entries will be adjusted, if the exhibitor does not already have an entry in the correct category.
- In cut flower exhibits and displays, judging will be on size of bloom, color, quality, and condition of foliage and bloom. In floral arrangements, judging will be based on design, stability, container, and color.
- Container plants must not have plant shine or other material on foliage or flowers. No live animals or artificial decorations shall be exhibited with the plant. Judging will be based on cleanliness, uniformity, size for container, and overall health and vigor.
A Best in Show ribbon may be awarded for an outstanding flower, pot plant or floral arrangement.
Ribbons may be awarded regardless of number of entries, if judges deem the entry worthy.
